Here’s some sobering statistics for you:

Over 100,000 Australians have lost their lives whilst serving for our country. About 1 million people have served, or are currently serving for our country….

…and each year, as a show of respect and remembrance, we hold the Lighthorse Ultra Marathon, a timed loop event in the Northern Suburbs of Perth.

In 2026, we will be celebrating not only 10 years of Ultra Series, but it will be the 10th year of running the Lighthorse Ultra in Woodvale. 10 years of running this incredible event and 10 years of amazing results, remembering those that served and continue to serve. Also not forgetting the launching of many runner’s careers.

Our annual dawn service in the fields of Perry’s Paddock has the crisp morning air pierced with the eerie horn playing the last post and reveille before runners tackle the 24, 12, 6, 3 or 1 hour events on a 2.61k circuit of limestone, boardwalk and asphalt.

It has become an event tradition to offer HEAVILY DISCOUNTED ENTRY (just $25 for any distance) to all past and present service men and women (select applicable distance in registration), regardless of their nationality as our humble way of saying thanks and we will continue with this tradition forever. They are joined by hundreds of other runners from our community.

There are very few ultra marathons that will hit the celebrations of the 10th edition and we are incredibly proud that Lighthorse is up there set to become one of them. And this is where we have decided to close this chapter. To go out on an absolute high. 10 incredible years of this amazing event. We want to close this chapter on our terms and in our time as we continue to evolve and create new and exciting adventures through Ultra Series. 2026 will be the 10th and final edition of Lighthorse.

We will ALWAYS remember them.
